Object description

The central portal was established in the style of the Dutch late Renaissance. The vaulted crossing of the entrance, which is flanked sideways by pilasters, closes with a cornice, whose architrave, decorated with sculptural reliefs of lion's heads or lion's masks, displays in its central part the framed inscription "ALBERT JOHANNES DUX MEGAPOL SIBI-SVISSQVE COMMUNIVIT IN M D LXV" (Johann Albrecht from Mecklenburg established at 1565 for himself and his kin).

The investigation program for the structural fabric and building material on the sandstone portal of the fortress Dömitz basing upon visual appraisals
For the investigations should be applied preferably non-destructive procedures.
